Hey all,
As you may have noticed my posts have become a tad less frequent. I wanted to let you all know that due to a seasonal priority it absorbs a lot of my photography time. I am continuing to get my butt out there and shoot all the time. The Blog will probably become a weekender type blog. Please take note so you don’t think I have just forgotten my readers. I definitely have not and will not.
Moving on from the bad news. Good news is I am currently participating in training for the a spring biological survey. The training involves a dragonfly study for the Staten Island area. Having the great opportunity to work with Paul Lederer and many other enthusiasts is very exciting. I assume the role of the photographer. Progress reports can be seen here. It is definitely not updated constantly, but definitely check in now and then if that topic tickles your pickle.
Today’s adventures were a tough one. Not in skill, just staying awake. Haha. Got home from driving from the Pocono area just before 12pm. Getting things in order until about 2am. Then got up at 5:30am to go out and shoot. Was a slow start up as you may imagine
. It appeared the upland sandpipers headed out early in their migration and we didn’t find any whimbrels. The day moved from Oakland Beach pier and ended at the conference house searching for any birds in fall migration.
Ever had an itch you just couldn’t scratch? Actually it is a green darner dragonfly using the combs on his apendages to clean himself from just taking a wet mud dipping.
A grey catbird just not wanting to come out and have his picture taken. He kept peeking at me from the bushes.
Just your local amphibian hanging out in the early morning sun.
What I believe to be our friend the red faced slider we met a few weeks ago. He appears to be thriving. Good and bad as he is invasive, but also a cute little fell’er :-p
