Went out bright and early; scratch that. Went out nice and early before the sunrise. Went looking for whimbrels and upland sandpipers. We were checking the Miller Field area. Not much there, but NYC pigeons and Canada geese. Plan B was insect scouting. Headed on over to the Conference house and then over to Blue Heron Park. For some great reason -which there was none- the parks department employees decided to trim down the milkweeds and other assorted plants at the conference house. Me and Seth didn’t recognize the place. It wasn’t even aesthetically pleasing. As you could imagine there wasn’t much short of some green bees around. Blue Heron was our last stop before the mid-day sun began to approach. Once that sun becomes intense it’s time to close up shop.
Forgot to mention our friend the American robin. He was our only customer on the way out of the salt marsh.
Really enjoyed the low angled golden sun rays just striking the head of this pollen coated metallic green bee.
A blue dasher perfectly perched with his wings helping bring attention to himself.
A silver spotted skipper pollinating from bellow.
A little patient newbie flew in for me. He couldn’t be bothered by this photographer taking his photo with a Sigma 150mm f/2.8 macro lens inches from his face. An eastern tailed blue.
