What a better way to start a photography Base Camp then with little sleep, poor nutrition, and the amazing grandeur of the Alaskan landscape. Hello all and welcome. I recently got back from Moose Peterson’s Wildlife Photography Base camp and boy did I learn a ton. Anchorage, Alaska was beautiful and shared with us some of it’s many treasures. I was inspired by Moose and Josh his assistant to start a blog of my photography; a look into what and where I am shooting. I hope you all will come visit and don’t become strangers ya hear?
Photography highlights from Base Camp:
Alaska in All its Glory.
Practicing our depth of field at a wildlife preserve. A bear taking an interest in us.
One of our many excursions in search of moose along the busy highways. Mother and calf pictured above.
A waterfall seen from the boat flowing between a black-legged kittiwakes nesting grounds.
The famous early morning dall sheep coming down from the mountain tops to graze. Seen above ramming one another.
One of Moose’s favorite places called Potter’s Marsh; a quick pull off from the highway. Filled with Mew gulls and arctic turns.
A mew gull in flight. Potters marsh was the perfect place to practice our panning technique.
Stay tuned for my trip to Oslo, Norway, with my final destination in Svalbard, Norway! apprx. 625 miles from the north pole!

Hello Jarred
I too have enjoyed Moose but only at his DLWS. (Moab 06) So who are you—where is home —and what is your gear?
Hey there,
I’m based in NY and shooting a Nikon D200 w/ grip. Nikon 80-400mm My longest lens and my shortest being a 10mm fisheye. Like to use my Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 for landscapes. I have others, but it’s too late to list
Hi, great photos taken in Alaska. Hopefully I can visit this great state sone day. Good luck with your future photography. Did you use a teleconverter on your 80-400 lens? Welcome to Norway where I live. I look forward to see your photos from Svalbard.
Hey there, Nice work. I’ll check back from time to time.I heading to the DLWS workshop in September and am pretty psyched!

You’ll have an awesome time. I myself was looking into the idea of doing DLWS in Yellowstone. Moose is a phenomenal help in getting you in the right direction and his assistant Josh (if he is there as well) helped me tremendously when I was confused and helped put me on the right track with a proper heading. Good luck and have a great time!

I myself did not use a teleconverter. It is definitely a possible idea for the future. I shot it as is. Some hand held like the panning and the ones taken on the water, while the others were mounted on a Gitzo tripod.
I’m looking forward to Norway, from what I read and hear it is a beautiful place. Thank you for the welcome
Can you put your email address somewhere so people can contact you?
Hello and welcome to the world of blogging. I found you from Moose’s blog. I attended DLWS in Cape Cod 07 and I am planning on Yellowstone in 2010. Nice shots – looking forward to seeing more.
I see it’s at the bottom of the post now.
Thanks!
